Glenn Scott has been charged with leading the Mount Vernon Police Department, following his retirement in 2015 after more than two decades in service.
Scott previously served as division commander of the support services division, executive officer of the patrol division, commanding officer of the training division and emergency services unit, as well as acting commander of the intelligence unit, gang unit, school safety officers, domestic violence unit and ceremonial unit.
According to Patterson-Howard, “in his role as Commissioner of Public Safety, Scott will further ensure the safety of the citizens of Mount Vernon.”
Most recently, Scott worked security following his retirement from the police department, which he joined in 1994. He’s also been a manager at a city drug store and has done federal law enforcement work since hanging up his badge.
Other appointments by Patterson-Howard include Brian Johnson to the role of Corporation Counsel and Kim Odindo as the Fire Chief of Operations.
